Ways to exercise more

I work at a big office building.. what are some good ways to exercise indoors?

There are 6 floors with steps and elevators. I take an elevator to the 6th floor and walk the steps down to the floor I work on(1st). I sit at a computer all day. I dont want to work up an enormous sweat.. just enough to get some calories burned. Any more ideas?

  1. Stair climbing (up only) typically results in about 400-450 calories burned per hour for an average weighted person. Walking down stairs doesn't have much for any net calorie loss due to the ease (ie: gravity). Things you can do, use the stairs to go up and avoid the elevator, go for a walk at noon or during coffee breaks (walking doesn't get a person sweating easily for example). Park on the far side of the parking lot and walk to the front door. Stay away from bad office foods like donuts (huge in fat and calories) and go easy on the designer coffees. Aside from that, there's not alot you can do 'at work' when stationary at a desk.
  2. If you want to start out easy try walking up the 2nd floor and walk back down. As your body gets used to the ability to climb to the 2nd floor after a couple of days, start walking to the 3rd floor and then walk back down. After a couple of days when your body gets used to the ability to climb to the 3rd floor, start climbing to the 4th floor. Then to the 5th floor and then the 6th. See the pattern? But you gotta do keep it up.
