Ways to exercise more

Does anybody have any ways to exercise indoors with minimal equipment?

I want to lose a little weight and tone up for summer but it has been raining a lot. Are there any exercises that burn calories and can be done indoors? I don't want to pay a whole lot for equipment and I have a tiny house anyway.

  1. yes stand up then bend ur knees so that ur whole body goes down. i got told that in the gym. keep doing that a thousand times, it good
  2. There's videos. There's so many that you can get them for cheap used. Some TV stations have exercise programs in the morning. Or you could get a cat and play with it. You can use a phone book or a bag of flour/rice/sugar as a weight. Or a water bottle.
  3. Get a pilates DVD, that should really help you to tone up. And it's fun too! The one I work with is Pilates for Dummies. The instructor gives clear directions and is very helpful. PS: I use it in my apartment, so I understand about being cramped for space.
  4. i love my exer-ball. You can do tons of diff activities, and it's kind of fun bouncing around on a big ball. it has really helped my abs.
  5. I tune in to "Fit TV" on cable ...no dvd required
  6. Walk up and down the stairs, thats good for burning calories. And try jogging on the spot that should help.
  7. Try isometrics - free hand exercises which are extremely effective and need NO equipment. It's a form of exercise where you use your won body weight against itself. Otherwise try Yoga - maybe you could run a serch on it on the internet or even get an inexpensive training vcd. All the best :)
  8. the nell mcandrew dvds work better for me then when i went for a 5 mile run each day, be warned though- not for the unfit
  9. Look Ms. Trueblue. From ur id, I cud assume that u r 18. So I cud get a gist of ur problem, as I too am facing the same problem. I was reading somewhere that the best exercises are the chair exercises, for that u hav to hav only a chair. Suppose u r sitting on a chair, now in the same position, lean forward. Now the only contact wid u n the chair is the hands. Now go up n down, about 15 times n u hav ur shoulders, thighs and belly toned up!!!
  10. do some housework... with as little mechanical devices as possible... for example... clean the floor with a cloth... clean it with your hand... that should help...
  11. I use Walk Away the Pounds and Pilates, both on DVD. The work very well. I'm seeing results already. Good luck.
  12. Yes, you can do aerobic exercises, tae-bo, walking and mix it up with running or any other type of calisthenics to get your blood pumping and to get your self sweating, somethings that come to mind is wall push ups if you cant do it the normal way. Sit ups or crunches as many as you can do, close to 1000 a day. Jumping jacks, a lot of kicking and punching drills, it doesn't have to be perfect as long as you're doing it enough to get yourself sweating a lot and getting your heart rate pumping. All of this will reduce your weight issue but it wont help if you finish exercising and you go gorge yourself with a lot of food. Remember, you have to take out 3500 calories to get rid of 1 pd of fat and take this as being gospel- never eat after 7:30pm no matter how hungry you get. It only takes JUST 2 calories to sustain a pd of fat. So If you put in more calories than you take out, then you might as well quit before you even start. I'm just being blunt about it. But before you do any exercises check with your doctor about your health, it depends on if your a girl or a guy and your age comes into play, so consult your doctor first. hope this helps. if you need any motivation or any kind of help, you can contact me via email @ onegr8turbo@yahoo.com. I'm also curious how much weight are you trying to lose? I used to weigh 250pds and now I'm at 170pds and feeling good. Take care.
  13. yes I'm doing it right now i started in January i have never been to a gym i cant afford it i got some weights for about ten bucks at a yard sale and i got tapes of exercising from goodwill and a few books also while i was in there and I'm toning up really good its unbelievable i like working out by myself anyway and i love the way I'm starting to look
  14. walk in place.vacum.
  15. Probably aerobics. If you decide to spend some money on equipment a treadmill is always good.
  16. Yes indeed! You must try the Charles Atlas program! All other exercise programs are simply poor and useless by comparison. Mr. Atlas introduced quite a number of exercises using just a chair or two for all around conditioning. Don't let the fact that this execise program is decades old and the Mr. Atlas is now dead deter you from becoming the best that you can be. Billions of satisfied customers can attest to this amazing 1/2 century old program.
  17. Do sit up's, push up's, crouches, or you can jog in one place....it's is extreamly fun. But the best way is to just be a couch potato haha j/k
  18. it is very basic jumping jacks, sit ups, and push ups will give you all you really need
  19. I lost 40 pounds by using a Richard Simmons video. Give it a try.
  20. Besides all the good suggestions to watch & follow programs, using handy household weights, you can also wear extra clothing so that you warm up quickly and avoid injuries. Plus you will also temporarily lose a bit of weight thru sweating. There are many good books on exercises that are both general or as specific as to your liking. Some housework can also be made very physically challenging!
  21. All you need is some cans of soup for arm weights, some huge elastic bands or bungee cords for tension, some good runners for squats and running on the spot and your favorite tunes!
  22. Yoga with a video
  23. Well I had to loose about 20 pounds I used to be 150lbs now I am 126lbs but its because A: I stop eating junk food and stay healthy and B: is I have to do the bike inside the house for my knee cause I hurt myself at the age of 14 now I am a little older
