Ways to exercise more
What is a good way for a dog to get his exercise in snow (in a small home)?
My dog needs to run and get some exercise but its a small home with not much of a yard and its way too cold for him to be on walks. please help

- put him on a treadmill, i think thats a good idea thats what we are doing do my weiner dog (maggie) and she just loves it
- you could let him walk on the treadmill if you have one
- well i think u could (if u have) use a treadmill at put it on a speed (according to the size of Ur dog) that makes the dog feel like its going on a normal walk.
- play with your dog.......do you have a ball? and a hallway?
- remember doggie cloths are not always cruel, what bothers a dog about the cold is the exposed skin on the baps of their feet, look around in your local pet stors for doggie booties to protect them from the cold (also the cemicals in the streetsalt are bad for dogs feet so this is great for protecting against that as well) for short haired dogs, in the winter it's not cruel to get them a doggie sweater for outside, they need extra layers sometimes as well but if your still heasitent to walk your dog, get some wee-wee pads so your floors don't get ruined and be sure to play with your dog alot (with small dogs fets can be an inside game)
- just put him on a lesh and tie him to the fence. just make sure you keep an eye on him.
- How cold is "way too cold"? Ihave a jRT mix who runas and runs and runs, deep snow or not. If your dog is active it will stay warm. Just don't leave it out unattended. Play with it, throw snowballs or whatever just keep it busy outside. If the snow is deep just shovel a play area enough so thatt he dog can get around. Try jogging with it too. You'll both stay warm if you're running. Do not worry about it's feet in the cold. Just don't stay out too long. Unless you have a Chinese Crested I wouldn't worry about it. Dogs are a lot tougher then people are willing to think.
- Play with him in the hallway, or if you have stairs, thats even better. Up and down will really wear him out! Good Luck!
- If you have a tunnell, bricks or wood, you can make a circut for your dog around the house! Like things to go under and jump over, cones or objects to weave around, tables to go around... Once they get it it's great fun for you and them! Plus they get excersie. Always reward with treats.
- Well like someone else said Put him on a leash for a little bit. If he is an adult dog he should be ok to be outside for a little while. He might actually enjoy it....my puppy does...Just dont leave him out there to long especially if he is used to being inside.
- I really love food exercisers like "Everlasting Treat balls" and Kongs. Also, reduce food-- there is less use of calories right now.
- You can take him to puppy daycare, I have a petco near me that has one and there's a big room where the dogs can run around together, the only problem is... it costs lots of $$$$$
