Ways to exercise more

I have athsma, what are some good ways to get exercise?

Well, because of my athsma, I have really short breath and I can't run for very long. I'm pretty sure I'll stop breathing. It's really hard to keep up with my friends when we are running. How do I keep up, or what are other ways to get exercise without me losing my breath?

  1. You need to find a doctor that can help you manage your asthma - with the proper maintenance you should be able to liver normally. Maintenance inhaler daily and then maybe a short term inhaler before exercise or when an emergency hits. You have to monitor your symptoms and manage them before a crisis - your doctor should be able to give you forms to keep track of this. Also, from inactivity we all get winded easier, so you will need to build up endurance gradually by adding more regular exercise daily. Good luck.
  2. You have to practice swiming, karate,in other ways you should do your life normally. Astexpect is a natural medicine for asthma.
  3. All of my kids have asthma. I let them do what ever sport they wanted. They always had their inhaler with them. They rested when they needed to. I really believe the more active you are the better your lungs get. My kids Dr. said that was the best thing for them. 2 of mine do not have any problems. They were in and out of the hospital when they were young. One is 29 and the other is 24. My 30 yr old have problems sometimes. Just keep on trying, rest when you have to. Never give up and sit around. Watch, the weather though, if it is hazy, limit your activities. When it is hazy, its best to stay in Air conditioning. Just try to enjoy yourself. You know your limits. My sons, always took a puff of their inhaler, before physical activities. this seemed to help. An Allergist helped a lot. Good Luck
