Finding new ways to exercise with the kids with out them knowing it as exercise.?

the kids and I walk a mile or two every day unless its raining. We throw the football to each other as we are walking our neighborhood. Its fun and more exciting than just walking. We even get some running into it. Now when it rains or really cold, I look up music and play songs I think they will enjoy. We dance and have fun. They do not realize they are working out. I am getting compliments on how the kids are looking. I feed them right. Wished you could see their pictures from last year and see them now. I am looking for other ideas on how to exercise them without them knowing its a work out. In the past 9 months, my daughter 11 went from 130lbs to 109lbs and my son 7 went from 106lbs to 87lbs and I went from 267lbs to 229lbs. We all weighed in today. Any more Ideas?

  1. indoor swimming may be really good..at a rec center
  2. I know this sounds really stupid & it may be a bit expensive, but the Wii is awesome. There are so many games that you can get for it that make you really active. The Wii Sports game can really wear you out. There is also a new game coming out that is made specifically to make kids active instead of sitting on their butts on the couch. Play an actual game of football or soccer or something in your backyard, get them involved in some sort of team sport, the zoo is good for walking when it's actually warm enough, swim at your local YMCA, my neice & nephew love it when I make music videos of them dancing. Good luck!
  3. First off, congrats you are a really responsible, great dad. Have you thought about getting a trampoline? Dance and karate are also great. Riding bikes using GPS tracking to find treasures, you could do it like a pirate day, hope this helps keep up the good work!
  4. Good for you! You might look for classes for kids at the local Y or a gymnastics center. You can also play some other sports - baseball is fun when it's a friendly family game, kids against dad. Also you could get a basketball hoop and put it up over your garage door or get a freestanding one. My son loves to shoot hoops even though he is hopeless. :) Indoors you can set up an obstacle course once in a while and have races. Hide and seek can get fairly physical. And red-light/green light. Remember the stuff you used to do as a kid? And jump-rope, hopscotch, those are all good and you can even do a little indoors if your floors can take jumping. The stuff you are doing already is great. Keep up the good work.
  5. Sounds like your bragging a bit dude.
  6. do you have bikes ? going for a bike ride is really good too, going for a swim, also having races..but make a game out of it.
  7. Just do some fun actives outside ride bikes, let them play tag play some sports. it dosent need to be exercise like push ups etc... get the hole body moving. dancing its not a bad idea either
  8. I think the idea of doing things a the local YMCA or Rec center is really good. You can do indoor swimming, yoga, tennis etc there. The Wii has a lot of cool games that can also get some exercise in. You could have a pillow fight, and chase each other around the house lol. Or you could turn stuff into a contest, like who can do the most pushups, jumps for jump rope etc. Also videos like Tybo or karate might be fun. Even though they are exercise videos there are lots they teach cool techniques.
  9. Hi single dad, how are you, congrats on the weight loss to everyone :). If i was in your situation with this i would sit down and talk to the children and see what they want to do you might find they have been wanting to do a sport but have a little scared to ask in case you might say no i would tell them that you are looking for ideas on some exercises to do when its cold and miserable and they might actually have some good ideas that they have got from the school sports days or lessons maybe try dodge ball in the garage and get some of their friends around to play A play a sport that is common in America it is easy to do i have lost 13 kilos in a month with just running around after my son and playing with hI'm he has lost 2 kilos and the doctor told me that i should put the weight back on my son because its not healthy for a child his age to loose weight but im try to keep the weight on him but he is very active and it is hard to keep it on him. good luck hope i was of some help.
