Easy ways to calm down?
I've just started this job and it is causing me to be very on edge - there really isn't much of a reason for it, since the job is fairly simple. Anyway, it's a desk job, and I was wondering if there were any things that I could do while sitting that might relieve tension/stress and just calm me down a little? Such as breathing exercises or something? Thanks.

- control ur breathing sip water regularly
- I cuddle with my scorpion...calms me down quite a bit
- yep. deep breathing exercises are excellent. Read up on Meditation too. you can use a quick version of that or just the start of a meditation exercise to calm yourself
- Get one of those squeezable balls that you could squeeze multiple times.
- get a stress ball that helps. learn to control your emotions and your breathing as well and nothing can go wrong.
- deep breathing ,think of the Best times in your life
- Oh yes the dreadful anxiety at work. I have the same problem. Try breathing deep and closing your eyes and counting backword from 10. Or get a stress ball, those help. Some people get relaxed by writing what makes them stressed down then throwing it away. Take a walk to the water cooler or soda machine. Go into the bathroom and rinse your face with cool water. Sometimes it helps to just walk away from the problem long enough to cool off then approach it from a different point of view. If those dont help your doctor can always prescribe you anxiety medication.
- Breathing of course is excellent. Count your breaths, and try to focus on the sensation of life giving air entering and exiting your body. It also couldn't hurt to get some mediation tapes to listen to (provided they won't interfere with your work) Here are some useful sites: http://www.learningmeditation.com/ http://www.meditationcenter.com/
- Take a deep breath. Breath it out slowly counting backwards for 5 seconds.
- These things always work for me: 1. Breathe deeply or breathing exercise. 2. Clear out your mind, totally blank, don't think about anything. 3. Play music with natural sounds of water, ocean, birds etc or piano (bliss music). 4. Since it's an office job, make your chair comfortable. 5. Drink lots of water, if it's not calm you down, at least you will always feel cleansing.
- Good question: Here's some ideas-- o Every once in a while, close your eyes, relax your facial and neck muscles as much as you can and take some really deep breaths. o Come in before everyone else and get cracking right away o Don't each lunch at your desk--get outside if you can. o Listen to classical music on earphones if permitted. o Every hour or so, get up from your desk, walk down some stairs and then walk up again. o Change your posture and get a screen mask for your computer. o All work places have negative people--avoid them by all means. o Exercise regularly--best stress buster there is. o Do some stretching--legs, trunk, arms, hands, etc.--every 2 hours or so. o Keep caffeine at a reasonable level. Best of luck on your new job--I'm sure you'll do great!
