easy ways to quickly reduce stress and anger?

I suffer extreme migraines because when i get stressed/angry or upset i clench my jaw and this tightens all the muscles from the jaw back to the temples ect and i can have migraines that last for days.. i can go to sleep with one and wake up with it.. i've been working on trying to not clench my jaw but i even do it in my sleep and i'm wonder what are some good ways or possible jaw movements or exercises i can do to help decrease the pain

  1. hottub!
  2. Try to think about other people more and yourself much less.
  3. drugs, trust me they work really well haha don't trust D.A.R.E
  4. kava kava? :)
  5. A couple of drinks does it for me
  6. do yoga.
  7. You should go get a facial massage. Or just an all over massage if you're really angry. Working out helps me with stress, so does breaking things though...yeeaaahh.
  8. I agree with the hot tub. However, I relax when I can talk to someone I haven't talked to in a long time, perhaps a childhood friend.
  9. Work out more...relieves stress and is good for you. Also, do things for recreation that take your mind of work...often people think that doing nothing relieves stress...the opposite is true.
  10. They sell mouth guards to sleep with and keep you from clenching your teeth. Try baths before bed. Get massages regularly. Simply sit and meditate a few times a day. Have a glass of red wine. Visit a behavioral therapist to change your reaction to stressors.
  11. I am not sure about jaw exercises, but regular exercising can help you with stress. Perhaps meditation or even as a last resort medication, but to me this sounds like now it is a habit and like any other habit it needs to be broken, but i know the saying old habits are hard to break.
  12. There are no "quick fixes" for this . You might try to get involved in meditation and/or anger management of some sort. I have had migraines and They Are No Fun !!!
  13. I have exactly the same problem, only I get migraines for many more reasons. I live on Excedrin Migraine. I try hard to avoid topics and people that get to me, when my kids get to me I simply tell them I need a time out and they are actually very understanding. I think it is more about coping with life then working your jaw. also take a hot shower at least once a day because it loosens up the mussels in your neck and back and for some reason that helps me.
  14. you should consider reading Why Zebras Dont Get Ulcers by Robert Sapolsky. it talks all about this and can help you understand everything there is to know bout stress... its a good book
  15. Excercise will do it - go for a run, do some push ups, sit-ups, etc. Failing that sex or masturbation are two great stress busters. And then after either of those - a long hot shower. Chocolate is good - actually any food is good. Wtare is excellent. Meditation and yoga are great, but not if you are stressed to begin with. I am a bloke so I have to say that the masturbation thing just comes part and parcel of being a bloke and makes me blissfully sleepy afterwards too - thinking about it a bit more - it might actually make you more active - but I don't think you'll be stressed!! Oh and martial arts can be great excercise too.
  16. You can try an anti-stress medication like Adivan. I take it a couple times a week for chest pains due to stress. I had my heart checked out first and it's definitely stress instead of a heart problem. You should have your migraines checked out by a professional. Perhaps you can find a pain medication for them that eases the pain. If you take medication for stress, you can prevent clenching your jaw and maybe the migraines will go away. Good Luck!
  17. You have to take the time to take some deep breaths with your eyes closed, in a quiet place. (The restroom stall works well when you're at work or in a public place.) At night you might try a plastic gadget called a "nightguard" to relieve some of the pressure on your jaw. Regular exercise is always good to release built up stress. If you are at work, take a break to walk around the block. Talking to someone you trust about what's bothering you is always a good stress reliever, as well. Well, Good Luck! I hope this helps!

Do these symptoms sound familiar? They are also the symptoms of estrogen dominance. But the full range of symptoms includes confusion, disorientation, intemperate judgments, and decision making, moods swings, body aches, anger and verbal abuse, lethargy alternating with increased energy, alienation, guilt (at having your abused friends), lack of self-esteem, and cravings for sweets especially chocolate.
