Ways to exercise more

fun exercise?

i wanna get in shape and am willing to do it the old fashioned way. I need some fun ways to exercise. I LOVE dancing and swimming and walking around my town and ice skating. I can't swim because I don't have money to go to a pool and its winter and its wisconsin so i can't swim outside. its obviously WAY to cold to walk around town. and i have no money to go ice skating and you can't find a section of any local lakes that have an area with thick enough ice without holes in it to go skating on. I would LOVE to have a gym membership but i know i don't have money for one. What else can i do until then? FYI. I said i loved dancing which is true but i'm not freespirited enough to dance around my house. not even my room. so don't suggest it. The idea of watching a video and kicking and punching at thin air is not an option either.

  1. If you have a playstation or x-box in your house. Buy the game DDR and the dance pad with it. It is so much fun and it works you out hardcore. I break a sweat like crazy playing it. It's fun so it doesn't really feel like you're working out!
  2. There is this contraption called The Slide, which is nothing more than a slippery mat and you wear socks or something like that and then you slide from side to side. It looks like so much fun!
  3. get on youtube, find a nice fast dance song and just DANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The key is, YES u can eat sweats but u have to know how much of it to eat, when your at the grocery store its about buying HEALTHY food and if u want sweets by ONE box of popsicles. If your CO-Worker asks do u want some cake say NO, learn to say NO to certain stuff. Hope I helped, luv TT(13)
  4. huh?
  5. Seems that you have all the reasons not to do something. Well lets see, you can try "Pilates" or "Yoga." But if you like dancing try it when no one is home, you can even use the stairs in your house to exercise. Maybe try a jump rope, hula hoop, smalls weights, and the exercises ball. You shouldn't be embarrassed about what you do in your own room, if you are stop doing that :)
  6. the old Richard Simmons tapes!
  7. First off, I'd like to say "good for you" for wanting to get in shape the old fashioned way, and not going for those dieting pills. That's great that you have that determination!! Here are some ideas to get you started on a workout routine: Try jump roping!! I live in the cold Wisconsin area too, so I understand that you cannot go outside. I always clear a room and then jump rope for one or two minutes straight, take a break for a minute, and then do that again, over and over. It really works your leg muscles if you do not stop while you are supposed to be jumping. Even though you don't have much money, I am sure you could scrape up some money to purchase an exercise ball, where you can do crunches. It really helps your abdominal strength. One more idea is to do shuffles( I don't know if that is the real name, but it's close enough). Clear a long room, squat down, and shuffle to one side. Touch the ground, and shuffle back. Keep doing this for one minute or so, then take a break (trust me, you'll need it!!) Do it again and again. That also really works your thigh strength. Yet another idea is to do wall pushups, putting your hands on the wall, standing a little bit away, and doing pushups on the wall. That really makes your arms work, and so does doing the crabwalk across a room many times. And finally, try stacking mats about a foot or more off the ground and putting something hard like a board on top. Hold some weights (if you don't have any, try anything kind of heavy maybe 3-5 lbs, but if you don't have those, thats okay too) and step up and down on the mats. As you step up, pull your arms with the weights up, and as you go down, bring them down. This will work both your arm and leg muscles. For a challenge, try it faster. Good luck with everything, and I hope I helped!!
  8. Fun exercise, you say? What about rope jumping accompanied by your favorite workout songs? A session of jump of just 15 mins is equivalent to 30 mins of running and burns off 200 calories....... And what about cardio kickboxing? That's fun enough because it combines elements of boxing, martial arts, and aerobics to provide you with overall physical conditioning and toning! It increase your stamina, flexibility, and strength while you do it listening to your favorite music....... You can burn 350 -450 calories in a 1-hr session. The only snag is - you got to learn it in a class....... So I guess, back to your rope jumping, huh?
